On that day the Son of Man will be given to his enemies to be killed on a cross.’ Then the leading priests and the Jewish elders had a meeting at the palace of the high priest. The high priest’s name was Caiaphas. At the meeting, they planned to set a trap to arrest Jesus and kill him. But they said, ‘We must not do it during the feast. The people might cause a riot.’”

“Then the soldiers with their commander and the Jewish guards arrested Jesus. They tied him and led him first to Annas. Annas was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. Caiaphas was the one who had told the Jews that it would be better if one man died for all the people.”
