Every Tongue Shall Confess:

Our Confession

Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is called our confession.

“Since we have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has gone into heaven, let us hold on to the faith we have.”

*“Confess” means to make known your faults.
*Confession means to declare publicly your personal relationship with God.
*Confessing Jesus Leads to Life

*Confessing Jesus is a requirement for salvation
*Max Lucado says, “The only contribution you make to your righteousness is your own confession and admission of sin.”
*Confessing Jesus brings glory to God.

“It is a proof of your faith. Many people will praise God because you obey the Good News of Christ…and because you freely share with them, and with all others.”

*Confessing is an important principle to belief and understanding.
*Confess the name of Jesus aloud
*Our confession should be before others

Revelation 3:5
“He who overcomes, shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

*If we fail to confess Jesus, then we aren’t His own.

1 John 4:2-3
“By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.”

*Why We Fail to Confess Him

John 12:42-43
“Nevertheless even among the rulers, many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees, they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.”

John 9:22
“His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if anyone confessed that He was Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.”

Mark 8:36
“What will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”

Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”

*All Will One Day Confess Him

Romans 14:10b-12

Revelation 7:9-12
“After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.’” At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

*In Luke 19:40, Jesus said that should His disciples ever fail to confess His name, that “the stones would immediately cry out!” The whole of creation cries out His name in praise!
