Matthew 9:18-26

Matthew 9:18
“While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, ‘My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.’”

Desperation should put us on our knees before God

Matthew 9:19
“Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.”

*We must make time to observe and respond to individuals - whether they are little children, parents, or older believers.
Great occasions for service come seldom – little ones surround us daily.

Matthew 9:20
“Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.”
As we go on our errands of mercy, may we be mindful and aware of others in need.
Matthew 9:21
“She said to herself, ‘If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”’
Reach out in faith, and Jesus will respond
Matthew 9:22
"Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart, daughter,’ he said, ‘your faith has healed you.’ And the woman was healed at that moment.” At once the woman was made well.”
*Jesus is seeking to draw each of us to confess publicly what faith in Him has done for us.
*God can change what seems unchangeable, giving new purpose and hope.
*When the Lord delays your prayers, pay attention of where He’s working and what He’s doing.
Matthew 9:23a
“When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes…”
*Ridiculers who laugh at what they don’t understand, aren’t proper witnesses of the wonderful works of God
Matthew 9:23b
…he said, ‘Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.’ But they laughed at him.”
*Death to the Lord of life, appears as mere sleep.
Matthew 9:25
“After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.”
*Christ can make a difference when it seems too late for anyone else to help.
If your situation looks hopeless, remember that Christ can do the impossible.
Matthew 9:26
“News of this spread through all that region.”
*You must choose your eternal destiny – Heaven or Hell.
